Example from the field
Shero Home Food — Shero Home Food has 50 registered home chefs catering to different locations in the city through Swiggy, Zomato and Dunzo; demand for the service started in the lockdown and continues. Thilak from Shero explains that once a home chef registers through a simple form, the platform does a background check on them and their kitchen through a video call; if they adhere to the hygiene protocols, Shero gets them the FSSAI licence and gives them training sessions at its demo kitchen in Anna Nagar or virtually — the basics of stocking up the pantry, quick recipes, packing techniques, social media skills and order management. Among the home chefs the platform has employed is Ayesha Maryam, a resident of Purasawalkam and a mother of three who has been juggling her personal life and cooking for Shero for six months: 'It came in handy because I already knew cooking and I did not need an investment to enrol on the platform. I plan and finish my household chores, and then begin cooking for Shero.'
