What this site is

Career Yatra is an independent, unofficial educational website that reorganises the content of Exploring Career Paths with Career Cards — A Career Guide for School Students (Volumes 1 & 2) into a searchable, filterable digital format for students in Classes 8–12, their parents, teachers and counsellors.

The 500 career cards were developed by the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT), in collaboration with UNICEF India and PSS Central Institute of Vocational Education (PSSCIVE), Bhopal, under the guidance of the Department of School Education and Literacy, Ministry of Education, Government of India. First Edition, April 2025. ISBN 978-93-5729-059-3 (Volume 1).

This site is not produced, reviewed or endorsed by NCERT or UNICEF. It is a student-facing reformatting project. For the authoritative, complete text, refer to the original PDF volumes.

How the content was built

The site's category structure and the full list of 497+ career names were extracted from each volume's printed table of contents. Because the career cards themselves are laid out as graphic pages (illustrations and styled text boxes) rather than plain text, they cannot be bulk-extracted automatically — each fully-detailed roadmap on this site was individually read from the rendered card pages and transcribed field-for-field (personality traits, scholarships, loans, course fee, educational pathway, expected income, where to study, and the “example from the field” case study), preserving the source wording and every “estimated” or “varies by institute” caveat.

13 careers currently have a complete, verified roadmap — at least one representative career from every one of the 13 categories. The remaining careers are listed by name, category and source page (Volume + printed page number) so the site's navigation, search and filters cover the full catalogue, but their detail pages clearly say “Full roadmap coming soon” rather than showing guessed information.

What we do not do

  • We do not invent admissions criteria, fee amounts, exam dates or salary figures.
  • We do not present any date-sensitive detail (exam windows, fee amounts) as guaranteed current — always verify on the official source.
  • We do not rank or endorse specific institutes; institute lists are indicative examples copied from the source card, not a complete or ranked directory.
  • We do not use fake statistics, testimonials or partner logos anywhere on this site.

A note on page-number accuracy

Page references for the 13 fully-detailed careers were confirmed directly against the printed page footer on the rendered card. Page references for the remaining career-name index were read from the table-of-contents text via OCR-style extraction and may occasionally be off by a page or two due to how the source PDF's two-column layout was extracted — the career names and categories themselves are accurate; only the exact page number should be treated as approximate for entries not yet fully transcribed.
